Arriving from eastern Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary

West Autobahn Vienna - Salzburg (A 1), Wals-Lofer exit, border crossing..., continue via Bad Reichenhall to the border crossing at Steinpass, Lofer, towards Zell am See, Maishofen, Saalbach Hinterglemm.

or

West Autobahn Vienna - Salzburg (A 1) to the Salzburg interchange, take Tauern Autobahn (A 10) towards Villach, Bischofshofen interchange, to Pinzgauer motorway B 311 towards Zell am See, Maishofen, Saalbach Hinterglemm.

Arriving from Germany

Autobahn Munich - Salzburg (A8) to Siegsdorf exit. From there, continue towards Inzell. Continue driving until you reach a fork called Lofer. At Stein pass you cross the border and then continue driving to Lofer. From there, continue to Saalfelden and on towards Zell am See. In Maishofen you reach the exit to the Glemmtal valley. From there, it’s only 14 km to Saalbach Hinterglemm.

For this route you do not need an autobahn vignette!!

Arriving from Italy, Slovenia, Croatia (Villach)

Tauern autobahn Villach - Salzburg (A10), Bischofshofen interchange, on Pinzgauer motorway B 311 towards Zell am See, Maishofen, Saalbach Hinterglemm.

or

Tauern autobahn Villach - Salzburg (A10), after Spittal take the next exit to the car transport Mallnitz - Böckstein then continue on Pinzgauer motorway B 311 towards Zell am See, Maishofen, Saalbach Hinterglemm.

Arriving from Italy (Brenner)

Brenner autobahn (A 13) towards Innsbruck, Innsbruck Ost exit, then continue on the Inntal autobahn (A 12) towards Wörgl, Wörgl West exit, continue on motorway 312 to Saalfelden, Maishofen, Saalbach Hinterglemm.

By train

The nearest train station for you is in Zell am See. The ÖBB can provide schedule information. From Zell am See, take the post bus, which leaves every one to two hours, to Saalbach Hinterglemm. There is also a taxi stand at the Zell am See station. You can order a taxi or get information online.

By plane

The nearest international airports are:

  • Salzburg (AUT) – about a 1 ½ drive away
  • Munich (DE) – about a 2 ½ hour drive
  • Innsbruck (AUT) – about a 2 hour drive
